Troubleshooting Common Issues
Most issues fall into two buckets: a connection broke, or a post didn't make it out the door. Here's how to handle the common ones.
"My account is disconnected"
A channel chip turned amber. PostFriendly cannot post to it.
What happened: the social network's permission expired, or you changed your password there, or you revoked permission from inside that network's settings.
Fix: open Channels, click the disconnected account, click Reconnect. Log in again, approve PostFriendly. Posts that were paused resume on their next slot.
"A scheduled post failed"
You see a red post on the calendar or in analytics.
Click the post. PostFriendly shows the reason. Common ones:
- Token expired — same fix as above: reconnect the channel.
- Media too large — file exceeds the network's size limit. Compress or trim and reschedule.
- Caption too long — usually X. Shorten the per-channel caption and reschedule.
- Account restricted — the network has put a temporary limit on your account. Check inside Facebook / Instagram / etc. for a notice. We cannot bypass these.
- Network outage — the social network was down at publish time. Reschedule for a few minutes from now and it should go.
"My post published but the image is missing"
Some networks are picky:
- Instagram rejects images smaller than 320 pixels on either side.
- LinkedIn prefers landscape (1200×627) for link previews.
- TikTok needs video, not stills (unless using their photo carousel format).
Check Per-Platform Limits for the right sizes.
"My Instagram won't connect"
The most common reason: your Instagram is a Personal account, or it isn't linked to a Facebook page.
Fix: in the Instagram app, go to Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account, choose Business or Creator. Then link it to your Facebook page. Try the connection in PostFriendly again.
"The AI gave me a weird suggestion"
Your prompt was probably too short. Add 1–2 details:
- What the post is about.
- Who the audience is.
- What you want them to do (book, buy, click, smile).
Then click Regenerate.
"My queue published two posts in the same slot"
Open Settings → Queue. Check that you don't have two overlapping slots (e.g., 9:00 and 9:00). PostFriendly does not double-book, but a manually scheduled post at the same time as a queue slot will both publish.
"I can't find a post I scheduled"
It might be a draft. Check Posts → Drafts. Or it might be a Contributor's post awaiting approval — check Posts → Approvals.
"Analytics numbers look wrong / too low"
Wait 24 hours. Some networks report on a delay. If it still looks wrong, click Refresh now at the top of the analytics screen.
If it still doesn't match what the network shows, open a support ticket and we'll dig in.
When all else fails
Open a support ticket from your dashboard. Tell us:
- Which channel.
- When the issue started.
- What you've already tried.
We watch tickets all day.
