PostFriendly: Compose a Post

Compose a Post

The composer is where you write what you want to say, attach an image or video, choose which networks it goes to, and decide whether to publish now or later.

Open the composer

From your dashboard, click New Post (top right on most screens). The composer slides in.

The four things every post needs

  1. Which channels. Tick one or more of your connected accounts. You can publish to one, a few, or all of them at once.
  2. The caption. Type what you want to say. Or click Suggest to let the AI write three options.
  3. Media (optional). Drag in an image or video. Or pick one from your asset library.
  4. When to publish. Pick Now, Schedule, or Add to queue.

Click Post.

Per-channel tweaks

Each network has its own quirks. PostFriendly handles them quietly, but you can override anything:

  • Click the network tab inside the composer (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Edit the caption for just that network. The other networks keep your original caption.
  • This is handy for shortening to fit X, or adding a different call-to-action for LinkedIn.

Mentions and tags

Type @ followed by a name to mention a public account on Facebook, Instagram, X, or LinkedIn. PostFriendly auto-completes from the accounts that network can see.

Links

Paste a link into the caption. PostFriendly does not shorten it automatically — your link, your tracking. If you want shorter links, use your own shortener before pasting.

Image and video rules

The composer warns you before you publish if an image is too small, a video is too long, or the file type isn't supported by that network. See Per-Platform Limits for the full numbers.

Save as draft

Not ready to publish? Click Save as draft. Drafts live under Posts → Drafts and never go anywhere on their own.

Preview

The right side of the composer shows a live preview of how the post will look on each network. The preview is close, not pixel-perfect — small render differences are normal.
