The AI Post Generator

PostFriendly's AI writes captions, hooks, and short-form copy in your brand's voice. Use it when you're staring at a blank composer or want a second opinion.

The basics

Open the composer. Click Suggest (the wand icon) above the caption box. A side panel opens.

Tell the AI what the post is about. You can be short — "Mother's Day brunch reservation push" or "30% off summer sale today only". The AI takes it from there.

What you get back

Three caption options, each with a slightly different angle:

• Direct — gets to the point fast. Good for sales and announcements.
• Story — sets a scene, then lands the message. Good for community building.
• Question — opens with something the reader can answer. Good for engagement.

Pick one. It drops into the caption box. Edit freely from there.

Train it on your brand

The first time you set up a brand, PostFriendly asks for:

• What you do — one or two sentences about your business.
• Voice — friendly, professional, playful, no-nonsense. Pick one or describe in your own words.
• Audience — who you talk to. "Brides planning weddings," "B2B SaaS founders," "Saturday-morning yoga regulars."

The AI uses all three to shape suggestions. Update them any time under Settings → Brand.

Regenerate

Don't love the options? Click Regenerate for three more. Each round costs credits — see your remaining balance at the top of the panel.

Edit before posting

The AI gives you a head start, not the final word. Read the suggestion out loud. If it doesn't sound like you, fix it. Even one word changed makes a post feel real.

Limits

The AI works best when you give it a clear topic. Vague prompts like "post something" get vague suggestions. Give it the angle and it will run with it.

It also doesn't know what's in your photo — describe the image in the prompt if you want the caption to refer to it.

Image and video generation

Some plans include AI image generation. Open the Media tab in the composer, click Generate, describe the image. PostFriendly produces a square or landscape image you can use directly or download. Generation takes 10–30 seconds.

Credits

Each AI action — caption, image, hashtag suggestion — uses credits from your monthly allowance. Your remaining credits show in the top right. See Settings → Plan to top up or change plan.
