Adding Promo Media, Including Nextcloud Links

Your promos are the content that plays during a Live TV ad break, and the photos and clips your other widgets show. Driven Signage accepts several media sources, so you can use what you already have.

Media you can use for promos

Each promo item can be one of these. For each one you set how many seconds it stays on screen.

  • YouTube. Paste the video link or ID. Good for a produced spot or a product demo.
  • Uploaded video. A short clip you already have, for example a 10 to 20 second special.
  • Image. A single graphic, ideal for a price, an offer, or a featured item.
  • Direct media link. A hosted video or image address.
  • Nextcloud share link. A share link from Driven's Nextcloud storage.

Using a Nextcloud share link

If your team keeps promo clips and graphics in Driven's Nextcloud storage, you can play them directly. Share links from files.drivensoftwaresolutions.com and cloud.drivensoftwaresolutions.com are supported.

  1. In Nextcloud, create a share link for the video or image you want to play.
  2. Copy that share link.
  3. Paste it as the source for your promo item and set the duration.

This is the easiest way to reuse the marketing assets your team already stores in one place, without downloading and re uploading files.

Tips for good promos

  • Keep them short. Ten to twenty seconds each keeps ad breaks tight.
  • Make the offer clear. Lead with the item and the price or the deal.
  • Use clean, bright images. They read better from across a room than busy graphics.
  • Rotate them. Pull last week's special and add this week's. Every screen updates itself when you change a promo.

If a promo will not load

Open the promo link on your own device to confirm it plays. For a Nextcloud item, make sure the link is a current share link from files.drivensoftwaresolutions.com or cloud.drivensoftwaresolutions.com and that the share has not been turned off.
