Merchant Onboarding: Generate Proposal, Pricing, and Processor Selection
The Generate Proposal tab turns a filled-out MPA into a priced, merchant-ready offer. It walks you through any remaining required information, validates it, surfaces errors, and lets you choose the processor and pricing model.
Starting a proposal
- Open the lead or customer and select the Generate Proposal tab.
- The screen first checks the MPA. Anything required but missing or invalid is listed at the top with a link to the field. Fix these before you continue; you cannot send an incomplete application.
- When the application validates, the pricing panel opens.
Choosing the processor
At the top of the pricing panel is a Processor dropdown with two options:
- CardConnect
- Paysafe
Pick the processor this merchant will board on. The choice determines which blank MPA is used for signing and which portal the signed application is later submitted to. If you started from a pricing template, the processor comes from that template but you can change it here.
Choosing the pricing model
Select the model that matches your offer:
- Interchange Plus: a basis-point markup plus a per-transaction fee over interchange.
- Flat Rate: a single percentage plus a per-transaction fee.
- Tiered: qualified, mid-qualified, and non-qualified rates.
- Cost Plus: a basis-point and per-transaction markup over cost.
Enter the rates for the model you pick, then the monthly fees: statement, gateway, PCI, minimum, and any other line item.
Surcharge, cash discount, and dual pricing
The proposal supports the common compliant fee-offset programs. Enable at most one:
- Surcharge: add a percentage to credit-card transactions. The percentage is capped at the card-brand limit set in Settings (default 4.0 percent); the screen will not let you exceed it.
- Cash discount: post higher card prices and discount for cash.
- Dual pricing: show a separate cash price and card price.
When you enable one of these, the proposal shows the merchant exactly what the customer will see, so there are no surprises.
Equipment and add-ons
Add any terminals, gateway, or peripherals the merchant needs. These appear on the proposal and, where relevant, on the application.
Reviewing and generating
- The panel shows a live summary: effective rate, monthly cost estimate, and the fee schedule.
- Check the numbers against your offer.
- Select Generate. DrivenSuite produces the proposal and attaches it to the lead or customer.
You can regenerate as many times as you need before sending. Each generate overwrites the previous draft proposal, so the merchant only ever sees the latest.
Common validation errors
- Missing tax ID or SSN: complete the Ownership and Business sections.
- Surcharge above cap: lower the percentage to the allowed limit.
- No pricing model selected: pick one before generating.
- Missing banking details: funding cannot be set up without routing and account numbers.
