Installing the App on Your Devices
CallerFriendly works on the devices your team already uses — Windows and Mac laptops, iPhones, Android phones, and a regular web browser. You can run it on more than one device at the same time. Calls ring on every device you mark active.
Desktop app (Mac and Windows)
- Sign in to your CallerFriendly dashboard from the device you want to install on.
- Open Downloads and pick the version that matches your operating system.
- Open the installer. On Mac, drag the app to your Applications folder. On Windows, follow the installer prompts.
- Launch the app. Sign in with the same email and password you use for the dashboard.
- Allow microphone access when your computer asks. Without it, you can hear callers but they cannot hear you.
The app sits in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows) when you are not on a call.
Mobile app (iPhone and Android)
- Open the App Store on iPhone, or Google Play on Android.
- Search for CallerFriendly.
- Install and open.
- Sign in with your email and password.
- Allow microphone and notifications access. Notifications are how you find out a call is ringing when the app is in the background.
The mobile app uses the data or Wi-Fi connection on your phone — it does not eat your minutes.
Web app (any browser)
Not a fan of installing things? You can take calls right in your browser at the same login page.
- Sign in to your CallerFriendly dashboard.
- Click Take Calls in Browser.
- Allow microphone access the first time.
This works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
Pick which devices ring
You probably do not want every device to ring at the same time. In your dashboard, open Devices, mark each one as Active or Off, and save. A device that is Off will not ring.
Going on and off shift
When you finish your shift, you do not have to close the app. Click Available in the corner and switch to Away. Calls skip your device and ring whoever is still available.
Common questions
My laptop is asleep. Will I miss the call? Yes. A sleeping laptop is treated as offline. The call rings any other device that is active, then follows your after-hours rule.
Can the same person use two devices? Yes. Sign in on as many devices as you like. They all ring at once when a call comes in. Whoever picks up first takes the call; the rest stop ringing.
Do I need a headset? A wired or Bluetooth headset gives the cleanest sound. Built-in microphones work, but a quiet room makes a big difference.
